The Top 5 Best Action Video Games of All Time

The action genre has taken over the video game industry as one of the most popular genres for games. Action games are great to play when you want to be entertained and have fun, but also want something that challenges your reaction time and reflexes. Here are the top 5 action video games of all time, ranked from my favorite to least favorite. Enjoy!

1) God of War (2018)

God of War (2018) is an action-adventure game in which players control the protagonist, Kratos, as he battles Greek gods and other mythological beings. The game is set in ancient Greece and loosely follows a series of Greek myths. This latest installment to the God of War series features numerous weapons, magic abilities and gear that are unlocked throughout gameplay; this includes swords, axes, bows and arrows among others. In addition to the main campaign mode there is also a multiplayer mode that allows two players on different systems to play against each other over local Wi-Fi or online via PlayStation Network.

2) Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5 is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Capcom, released in 2019. The game was announced at the 2018 Tokyo Game Show and was scheduled to be released in early 2019. However, it was delayed and instead released on March 8, 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Devil May Cry is a series of games about a half demon named Dante who hunts down demons for fun. He has a variety of weapons he can use to take out the bad guys and has some awesome skills that make him one tough customer to fight against. The story is focused on his fight against the new king of hell, who wants revenge on all humans because they killed his human mother when he was still just a baby.

3) Resident Evil 2 (2019)

Resident Evil 2 (2019) is an exemplary reboot of the 1998 classic, with a number at the end for good measure. Not only does it nail the claustrophobic intensity and high stakes of Raccoon City’s final days, but it also delivers an all-new dynamic horror experience. This remake gets everything right where so many other video game remakes have failed, from gameplay to storytelling to visuals.

4) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro is a newer game, but it's one that's worth mentioning for its incredible combat system. The game features a new kind of swordplay that relies on quick strikes and dodges to survive. It also features a grappling hook that you can use to zip around the map and take out enemies from afar. And if you're ever low on health, you can always find an Oni idol to make yourself invincible for a short time.

5) Nioh

Nioh is a game where you play as William Adams, a sailor who was shipwrecked and stranded on the shores of feudal Japan. There, he slays monsters, hunts demons, and explores ancient ruins in an effort to find his way home. Nioh is an action role-playing video game with RPG elements developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo exclusively for PlayStation 4. The game was released worldwide in February 2017. It features fast-paced combat that blends three different styles: samurai sword fighting, close quarters melee combat using knives and other weapons, and ranged attacks from firearms combined with magic spells.
