In the world of computer programming, there’s no shortage of different languages to learn and use. But, the sheer number of languages can be overwhelming to newcomers who are just starting out in programming; what should they focus on? Where can they get started? The first one is C++, an object-oriented programming language that was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979. The second type is Java, an object-oriented programming language that was developed by James Gosling and released in 1995. 

C# and Visual Basic are two other types of programming languages on this list. These two languages were both developed by Microsoft and released in 2000, with C# being object oriented and Visual Basic being a dynamic scripting language. 

A fourth type of programming language is Python which is an interpreted, general purpose programming language that was created by Guido van Rossum in 1989 and released in 1991.
