France v/s Denmark

Article intro-

Statistically speaking, the France vs. Denmark World Cup playoff has been referred to as one of the least exciting and most predictable contests to watch for spectators. Neither team has performed well in their qualifying games, with both only managing to secure a third place finish in their respective groups.
They have also failed to find any form since then and are going into this contest having lost their last three games. Despite all of this, there is still plenty on the line as the losing side will be sent home from Russia without a chance to qualify for the 2020 European Championships.
With so much at stake, here is an analysis of recent performance and how each team may lineup based on recent selections:

France Scouting Report

France has been one of the most successful teams in the history of the World Cup, winning the tournament on home soil in 1998. They also finished as runners-up in 2006 and are the reigning European Champions. A lot of this success has come from the strong core of players who have come up through the French youth system, including players like Olivier Giroud, Samuel Umtiti and Kylian Mbappe. Since then, manager Didier Deschamps has added a number of more experienced players to help lead the team in Russia. France has one of the best defences in the tournament and will be looking to build on that while they finish the tournament as one of the top two teams.

Key Players for France

Key Players for Denmark

Predicted Lineup for France

France has been using a 4-3-3 formation for most of their games, but have also used a 4-2-3-1 when needing to defend a lead. The 4-3-3 features Kylian Mbappe on the left wing, Antoine Griezmann in the centre, Olivier Giroud on the right wing and Paul Pogba as the central midfielder. The 4-2-3-1 sees the same two forwards, but N’Golo Kante moves to the middle and Blaise Matuidi plays on the right. The two central defenders are Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti, while the three in the back with them are Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Mendy and Steven N’Zonzi.

Predicted Lineup for Denmark

Denmark has been rotating their starting lineup between a 4-3-3 and a 5-3-2. The 4-3-3 features Thomas Delaney on the right, Pione Sialon on the left, Christian Eriksen in the middle and Lasse Schorndorff as the deepest midfielder. The 5-3-2 features Thomas Delaney on the right, Pione Sialon on the left, Christian Eriksen in the middle and Lasse Schorndorff as the deepest midfielder. The two central defenders are Andreas Christensen and Matthias Ginter, while the three in the back with them are Jesper Hansen, Jorgensen and Martin Jorgensen.

Prediction: France to win and get the automatic WC spot.

France and Denmark are two teams who are going into this matchup playing some of their worst football in recent memory. They both failed to qualify for the World Cup and will be playing for the right to go to the European Championships. France has been a dominant force in international football for almost two decades now and has the better team and player depth. France should be able to beat Denmark with ease and win this game.
